In July of 2021, wildfire smoke from the west began casting a smoky haze over parts of Massachusetts. The state immediately released an air quality advisory warning residents that elevated levels of fine particles in the air could intensify breathing issues for those with respiratory health conditions. 

At this time, Maria, a user of our patient app, noticed she was struggling with her asthma as air quality worsened. When her breathing became noticeably aggravated, she used her rescue inhaler and logged her inhaler use and symptoms into the Keva Health patient app. 

When Keva Health’s remote monitoring team noticed that Maria had used her rescue inhaler and was reporting more severe asthma symptoms, they immediately contacted her physician’s office to ensure that Maria was checked on. Maria then received a call from her respiratory health office’s physician assistant. Concerned about Maria’s worsening symptoms, the physician assistant reached out to guarantee that Maria’s breathing was under control and that she did not have to seek urgent care. Luckily, Maria was stabilized by the time her physician assistant called her. 

When asked if Maria would recommend Keva Health’s patient app to a friend, she says, “Yes I would.
