COVID 19 pandemic has really expedited use of Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM). There is a plethora of documentation about the access to care, cost savings, optimization of care etc. According to CDC, 90% of the nation’s $4.1 trillion in annual health care expenditures are for people with chronic and mental health conditions. Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and acute asthma exacerbations are the most common respiratory diseases requiring emergent medical evaluation and treatment.

Acute exacerbation of COPD (AECOPD) related costs are estimated around $4069/year per patient, but costs increase with exacerbation frequency and severity and with the presence of comorbidities. Hospitalization represents more than 70% of all COPD-related health care costs. In addition, relapses have even higher costs, estimated to be 18% greater than for patients who do not require new hospitalization.

Another common condition is ASTHMA, affecting over 26 million Americans; 1 in 12 children and 1 in 13 adults. Annually, there are 439,000 hospitalizations, 1.7 million emergency department (ED) visits, and 13.8 million missed school days. Asthma Is the third highest cause of hospitalizations among children under the age of 15.

Given the staggering numbers above, one can see the importance and urgent need for an essential tool like Respiratory Remote Patient Monitoring (RRPM) with a patient-friendly platform. KEVA365 is an ideal platform that provides in-home spirometry with 24/7 monitoring and necessary upscaling of patient care abating an impending exacerbation.

With RRPM,  KEVA HEALTH’s program is able to provide improvement in

  • Patient Adherence
  • Symptom-free days
  • Severity of symptoms
  • Escalations / Interventions
  • Missed School / Work Days

The Keva program promotes

  • Decreased Healthcare Utilization – Emergency visits and Hospital admissions
  • Provider Time saving
  • Access to Rural Patients
  • Reduced Economic Burden

KEVA HEALTH IS CLOSING THE HEALTHCARE GAPS in CHRONIC CARE MANAGEMENT by engaging the patients participate in their own medical conditions, improving their quality of life, while simultaneously reducing the healthcare economic burden.

About Keva Health

Los Angeles Wildfires: Saving Lives Through Timely Respiratory Care

Wildfires present serious health challenges, particularly for individuals managing chronic respiratory conditions such as asthma or COPD. Smoke from wildfires contains fine particulate matter (PM 2.5) that travels far beyond the fire’s location and can be present in the environment for a long time, penetrating deep into the lungs and even entering the bloodstream. These particles can intensify symptoms, causing airway inflammation and increasing the risk of complications. This blog provides some tips on staying safe.
